About GEAR
Georgia Engineering, AI, and Robotics
Developed through a partnership between the Museum of Aviation Foundation, 21st Century Partnership, and Georgia AIM, and powered by the Peyton Anderson Foundation, Flint Energies, Sigma Defense, and many more, GEAR is able to ignite curiosity, equip learners with high-demand skills for future careers, and transform ideas into impactful prototypes, ensuring access to technology that propels regional leadership in engineering and AI education.
The GEAR Lab initiative is hosted and operated by the National STEM Academy, which delivers the hands-on courses, workshops, and programs to foster STEM education in engineering, AI, robotics, and related fields.
The GEAR Lab, located at the Museum of Aviation in Warner Robins, GA, serves as a cutting-edge hub for STEM education and innovation, bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application. This space is equipped with high-performance hardware—including an on-site AI server, capable of simultaneously hosting multiple high-parameter, high-quantization LLMs (Large Language Models), and 30 seats of desktops and virtual desktop clients. This allows visitors to experiment and work with powerful, industry leading software like Unity, Unreal Engine, SolidWorks, Onshape, ChatGPT, GROK, and many other open-source LLMs. The lab offers immersive, hands-on experiences in artificial intelligence, robotics, aerospace, automation, and 3D design through interactive projects, simulations, and collaborative spaces. Designed for students, educators, and industry professionals of all ages, it fosters critical thinking, ethical AI practices, and innovation while addressing the digital divide in Middle Georgia.
